Description

This is a gourd container with a wide-mouth coiled neck with a red leather zigzag pattern at the rim. Leather stripping is stretched between the braided leather bands at the top and bottom and covers the majority of the gourd. The lid is made of gourd with a coiled plant fiber edge, and red leather whip stitch on the rim. The lid is attached with a strip of leather. Hide strips serve as the handle.

According to the donor, these containers were made by women and the straps are used for hanging the gourd.
