The wood shield is divided into three sections by horizontal wooden bars nailed onto the front and back. The top section is rounded at the top then flares out at the crossbar. The middle section is flared at the top and bottom and curves inward in between. In the center front side is a slightly raised large circle with a more prominent smaller circle raised within it. The bottom section is similarly flared at the top and bottom. On the back in the center is a carved wooden handle with a recess behind it to accommodate the carrier's hand. At the top and bottom of the handle are carved leaf patterns on either side. On the bottom sides of the shield are brass plates nailed to the sides.
