The bell is made from a dome of brass-like metal with two small holes in the top. The plant fiber string through the hole secures a bullet casing that functions as a clapper. It has a long plant fiber loop for hanging.

It was worn by men on the hip as both an ornament and a noisemaker to avoid startling someone.
