Description

This wooden pipe stem is oval in cross-section. The mouthpiece end is wrapped with braided quills, in bands of orange, white and purple. There is a significant amount of quillwork missing, the original extent indicated by the change in shape of the cross-section. There is a bundle of three brown and white feathers, with a bone bead at the base. The original point of attachment for the feather bundle is unknown.
