Description

Page with Latin text along the top and bottom edges. Round format, profile portrait of Septimius Severus facing right in the center of the page. The Roman emperor appears bust length with full heard, with a laurel wreath on his head. The visible part of his garment on his back and shoulder evokes Roman military garb. An inscription frames the man's face and identifies him as Lucius Septimius Severus Pertinax, Augustus and Commander VIII. The two toned chiaroscuro woodcut is colored two shades of brown.
