Description

Color print depicting the actor Iwai Hanshirō V (1776-1847) as the courtesan Oshizu who is standing in the center of the print, and looking toward the right side of the print. The actor is wearing a floor-length, green robe, with black and peach-colored trim, and white floral decoration. Obi is tied in front in the manner of courtesans. She is wearing many kanzashi, or hair ornaments. There is calligraphy in the top left corner of the print, and along the left side of the print. She is holding a small porcelain tea cup in her proper left hand.
