Description

Pietre Dure Roundel, similar to Rudolfian semi-precious inlay. Possibly from the Castrucci workshop in Prague, early seventeenth century. Semi-precious stones inlaid into a black circular frame. The scene that is depicted is rural with several buildings and a waterwheel in the foreground, all of which are surrounded by trees. In the middle ground a tower looms above with an onion shaped dome and a small spire.
