The image is divided into three separate registers; the upper and lower registers are smaller, comprising approximately one-sixth each of the full image; the image is surrounded by a thin, black border. The central register features representations of a very rotund bald man, who occupies a third of the composition, the entire left side. On the far right one-third of the central panel, a small woman stands holding a map out for the man opposite her to peruse. The map and the center third of this panel are white with black linear additions to describe the edges of the map and the pictorial aspects of it. The woman’s clothes are primarily black as is the man’s formal jacket, which consists primarily of expanses of solid black with details such as the “v” of a collar and cuffs in white. His pants are made up of a plaid pattern. In the upper register, the artist has depicted a simple landscape with snowcapped mountains and in the lower register a landscape consisting of flat fields and sky. In the lower right corner beneath the border is printed the page number “197.”
