Description

A small round cup with an irregularly foliated rim on the mouth and a foot-ring on the bottom. The exterior is decorated with stylized lotus patterns along the bottom of the body and is packed with irregular fine floral scroll of Japanese bush clover (hagi) on the upper body. Two lines along the foot. The interior rim is surrounded by a band of diamond diaper patterns (yomotasukimon) with four dots inside each pattern. At the center of the interior bottom is drawn a circular band of floral scroll composed of swiftly sketched designs of a pine tree, chrysanthemum, and a plum tree inside the concentric double rings. The cobalt blue designs have wide gradation.
