This is a triptych depicting a single scene, the Meiji period Imperial Assembly of Noblemen, as indicated by the title in a multi-colored rectangular box on the upper right corner of the first (right) print. On the far right (print a) is a dais under a bright red canopy, where the emperor, speaker and secretary sit. Next to them are the ministers. All in formal western military costume. The assembly hall is a 2-story structure. On the first floor the seats are arranged in a semi-circle facing the dais. Members of the assembly are also in black western suits. The second floor is the visitor’s gallery, occupied by men in black suits. On the far left of the second floor sits a woman (probably the empress) in western dress and her two female attendants.

Image of figures in an interior divided into three portions. The panel furthest left has figures in black suits seated in front of brown desks with green tops. The desks have ink pots and white paper on them. There is a second level balcony with more people in black clothing. At upper left are two figures in more colorful clothing seated in red chairs. In the center panel are more men in front of desks, arranged in a semicircular fashion. There are more people in black on the second level and a chandelier at top center. The panel on the right has a raised platform with brown desks with green tops. There is a red curtain over the stage. There are figures in black military outfits trimmed in red and yellow.
