Monochromatic image of figures in a landscape. There is an old man (identified as Saint Jerome) seated in the center of the bottom half of the image. He is shown full length, frontal, and looks up and to the right. He is bare-chested. He has a white beard, bald head, and white hair. He has a piece of white drapery wrapped around his waist. He is bare foot. There are papers and scrolls in the bottom left corner. There is a lion at lower left and a skull at center left. There is a winged figure in the top right quadrant. The figure is face down, holding a long horn (identified as the Trumpet of the Last Judgement) with both hands. His left hand holds the horn to his mouth and the right arm is extended to hold the tube. There is flowing drapery around his waist. The image is darker at center right.
