This print is strikingly close to some photographs of “Black Sunday” (April 14, 1935). (Worster, 17) Logan commented on this print:
A typical scene of the "Dirty 30's” of the Dust Bowl days in the Mid-West. The black clouds of dust completely hid the sun, when they rolled up over the parched plains. Windows and doors failed to keep out the fine dust. Not exactly a Chamber of Commerce illustration …but one of unforgettable reality of that time. (Logan)
