Description

Portrait of an African American woman (identified as Charlotte Sullivan, a Kansas City Art Institute model in the 1940s and 1950s, and into the 1960s) seated in a wooden chair, the back of the chair can be seen at the left. Her head nearly touches the top of the painting and the bottom is at the height of her hips. Her crossed hands rest on her lap. She is dressed in a solid brown or deep purple dress with gold trim at the collar and cuffs.
