Ōkubie portrait of Matsumoto Kōshirō IV (1737-1802) against a mica background in the role of Kakutei jishi (Kakubei the lion dancer). Originally written in the play Chigo Torii Tobiiri Kitsune, and first performed in 1777. This unrecorded appearance of Matsumoto Kōshirō was probably part of a performance in the eleventh month of 1794.
