Black-and-white portrait of two children, a woman, and a man (identified as the family of Alfred Tennyson). The woman and man are standing in the center of the image, arms linked, and the woman is gazing up toward the face of the man. There are two young boys, one on each side of the adults, holding their hands. The figures are standing in a grassy field that is surrounded by trees. The boys are dressed identically, in long, buttoned shirts and short pants, and they have light-colored, curly hair. The woman is wearing a floor-length, long-sleeved dress and the man is wearing dark pants and a dark, knee-length jacket. The man has a long beard.
