Garuda is the bird god of the Hindu epics of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. He stands on a turtle surrounded by a coiled snake with upraised wings and tail. Astride Garuda is a nobleman, possibly Rama who holds a bow in his left hand and a spear in his right hand.
