Description

Large oriental carpet (identified as from Gorhevan, province of Azerbijan, N. Persia) woven from cotton warp and weft and wool pile. It is nearly square and primarily a dull brick red color. There is a black floral motif with a white center in the center with green and white foliate motifs surrounding it. There is a white border with red, black, and green, surrounded by a smaller band of green. There are floral motifs in a larger band on all four sides.
