Black-and-white, waist-length portrait of a woman in three-quarters view turned toward the left side of the image, her face turned in profile. She is holding a parasol with both of her hands, which are held up to her chest. The parasol has thick black and white stripes in a circular pattern. The woman is wearing a dark-colored scarf over her head that is just below her left ear. There is a small tuft of dark hair visible from underneath her scarf, just in front of her left ear. She is wearing a sleeveless shirt that is light-colored with dark ribbon decorations creating diagonal stripes across her chest. There are small, beaded decorations along the ribbons on her chest, and light-colored ribbons fall down her back from her shoulders.
