Black-and-white, waist-length portrait of a woman in three-quarters view. She is leaning forward slightly and is facing toward the right side of the image, but her head is turned to face the left side. She is standing in front of a black background, with a bright source of light hitting her face from the left side of the image. She is wearing a black, broad-brimmed hat, and her shoulders are bare but she is holding a light-colored, satin cloth around her lower arms and chest. She has short, light-colored hair that is barely visible in the shadows of her hat, and she is wearing a large, gold hoop earring on her left ear. Her mouth is slightly open and her left hand is on her chest, grasping the cloth wrapped around her body.
