Horse eats leaves of a plant bearing a miraculous gourd guarded by a sacred snake, as onlookers laugh and marvel. The gourd is at the right side with figures and characters in high relief. There is a tree with red blossoms in the upper right corner. There is a tree with green foliage in the center background. Cartouche at upper left describes scene, stating that the story originates from the time of Shōtoku Taishi and says that the gourd is presently at Hōryūji Temple near Nara.
