Miniature bust-length portrait of a woman wearing a violet dress which has silk (?) at the bodice. The neckline of the dress is trimmed with white material with black dots (ermine?). She is wearing a single strand of pearls at the throat and her head is turned slightly to the right. The portrait is in three-quarters view, her eyes looking away from the viewer. The sitter has an elaborate coiffure with two strands of pearls attached at the top. There are various shades of gray in the background.
