Figure identified as Fortitude is depicted as a youthful woman in soft flowing drapery, sandals, turban and earrings. She is seated beside a scroll bracket which is decorated with a combination of foliate motifs, rosettes, and architectural moldings surmounted with balls. Figure embraces and straddles a smooth shafted column which rises from the belly of a lion trampled beneath her sandals.
