A Man with shovel is posing for the viewer in the foreground with both hands on his hips. The man is wearing overalls with a neckerchief and cap. Next to the man, on the right, is a wood post in freshly dug hole. Behind the post is a mound of dirt.Left on the horizon is a barn and silo. A road is leading across the field from the barn to the man digging post holes. On the left side of the fence there are cows walking on a cow path.
