Literature

Chalice with silver gilding. Raised designs on base, stem and cup. The top of the is undecorated and smooth. The bottom two-thirds is covered in designs in relief incorporating scroll, shell, floral, and architectural elements. The stem has one large inverted pear-shaped boss/knop below a narrow neck which attaches to the cup. The boss is decorated with shell, floral, and scroll forms. There is another boss with horizontal bands below that attaches to the base or foot. The base has horizontal bands and a scalloped edge along the bottom. There are scroll and shell patters in relief covering the rest of the surface.
