Description
Literature

In the upper left, putti raise aloft an oval portrait of a bewigged man. A female figure holding a maulstick and paint brushes crowns the portrait with a wreath. To the right, an armored female figure with shield and spear strikes down the group of figures in the bottom of the drawing. The figure with paintbrushes is probably a personification of Painting; the owl behind the woman in armor identifies her as Minerva or Athena, and the ass next to one of the figures in the bottom of the drawing is a common attribute identifying it as Ignorance.
