  • Cross-Disciplinary Exploration and Engagement: An Art-Science Workshop
  • Workshop
  • 7/15/2016
  • 09:00-18:30
  • Manhattan, Kansas
  • Host: Kansas State University, and the Spencer Museum of Art
Event Description
Artists and scientists both deal with complexity and ambiguity; a synthesis of their approaches can provide unique perspectives to research problems as well as powerful methods of communicating crucial questions and discoveries in ways that are relevant, intuitive, and easily accessible to broader communities. This workshop is a first step in examining and integrating the strengths of the arts and science communities to promote future collaborations. Matthew Coolidge, Founder and Director of the Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI) in Los Angeles, will participate in the workshop as a special presenter. The CLUI seeks to understand the nature and extent of human interaction with the earth’s surface, finding new meaning in the intentional and incidental forms that we individually and collectively create. Artists and scientists are invited to apply to participate in a day of intense mental stimulation, discovery, and dialogue to expand your practice and investigative imagination. There is no cost to attend, however, space is limited. The deadline to apply is July 1. Finalists selected to participate will be notified by email.
