Event Description
Sandra Laronde, artistic director of Red Sky Dance Theatre and director of indigenous art at the Banff Centre, Alberta, Canada, discusses contemporary issues in the creation and presentation of indigenous works of art. She also presents a short video of her most recent dance work, Backbone. The evening concludes with a panel discussion featuring Laronde, Cassandra Mesick, curator of global indigenous art at the Spencer Museum of Art; Jancita Warrington, director of Haskell Cultural Center and Museum; and Norman Akers, associate professor in the KU Visual Art Department.
