Event Description
Craig Richardson is a Scottish artist, curator, writer, and scholar on the visual art faculty at Northumbria University in Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K. A specialist in environmental art, Richardson will speak about the art historical and ecological significance of John Latham’s proposal to transform nineteen huge derelict heaps of red shale in Edinburgh (a by-product of the mining industry) into “process sculptures.” This lecture is one of several art-science outreach events in Kansas City organized by the SMA Arts Research Collaboration initiative (ARC) with the support of the Stern Family Foundation. This is a qualifying event for students seeking Arts Engagement certification.
