¡Vamos! Spanish Language Film Festival brings contemporary international films to Lawrence, celebrating the vibrant film cultures of Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain and more. This month-long festival will explore the history we live, the stories we share and the world we create. The Festival’s opening and closing films screen at the Spencer Museum of Art. The opening film También la Lluvia (Even the Rain), which is anchored in the philosophies of historian Howard Zinn, and the stories of 16th century priests, Fathers Bartolome de las Casas and Antonio Montesinos, director Iciar Bollaín raises questions about exploitation in South America, blurring the lines between past and present, fiction and reality. 104 min.
