Event Description
Set in Chile, 1973, Machuca (2004) is a coming-of-age story about a pair of 12-year-old boys who form an unlikely friendship during the last days of President Allende’s term and the first days of Pinochet’s governance. A searingly beautiful soundtrack propels the drama. Verónica Garibotto, an assistant professor from KU's Department of Spanish and Portuguese, introduces the film and leads a discussion afterwards.
