Event Description
The Xijing Men hail, conceptually, from the fictitious city of Xijing, an imagined political entity in East Asia. Their art humorously establishes the history, mythology, and cultural identity of Xijing. The "Xijing Art Summit" at the Spencer Museum is a performance taking the guise of a political summit, with the artists as dignitaries. The public is invited to witness the spectacle. The three artists in the collective are here to create a new work, to be installed at the H&R Block Artspace at the Kansas City Art Institute alongside a survey of past works.
