Event Description
Chapela Pérez speaks about his work and his interest in the nature of media and its impact on society. His practice challenges our relationship with everyday tools and technology such as books, libraries, computers, Internet and social media, by forcing them to reveal some of the complex interactions inherent to society. Chapela Pérez has an academic background in mathematics and communications. He studied art at Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City and has been artist in residence at the ISCP in NYC and at L40 in Berlin. He has participated in exhibitions at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Bass Museum in Miami, Fotofest Houston, NGKB in Berlin, Pace Gallery, and at the Museo de Arte Moderno and the Museo Rufino Tamayo in Mexico City. He has had solo shows at Henrique Faria Fine Art in New York, 11x7 Galeria in Buenos Aires, Galleria Galica in Milan, EDS Galeria in México City, and L40 in Berlin.
