Event Description
Opening night for this documentary, showing at Kansas City's Tivoli Cinema in Westport, features introductory remarks from Spencer Museum Curator of Global Contemporary and Asian Art, Kris Ercums. The movie tells the story of Ai Weiwei, a dissident for the digital age who blurs the distinction between art and politics. Director Alison Klayman gained unprecedented access to Ai while working as a journalist in China. Ercums, who traveled throughout Asia to study artists who have grown up in the digital era and whose practice is informed by interconnectivity, provides context for the film -- one night only.
