Event Description
Ann Wilson is a performance artist, painter, and quilt artist based in New York. She was part of the Coenties Slip group of artists in downtown New York City, along with Agnes Martin, Lenore Tawney, James Rosenquist, and others. She was involved with Fluxus Happenings around New York and she performed in “Meat Joy” with Carolee Schneeman in 1964. She has done projects for Creative Time and The Kitchen, and has collaborated on numerous performance art works with multi-media theatre director and designer Robert Wilson. Ann Wilson was very close to art critic and Kansas native Gene Swenson, and she facilitated the well-known Gene Swenson collection coming to the Spencer Museum of Art after Swenson’s tragic early death. She is visiting the SMA to do research on the Gene Swenson Collection.
