Event Description
Based on a true story and set during the days of the military junta, Four Days in September follows a group of young idealists who kidnap the American ambassador in order to draw attention to the curtailment of freedom in Brazil. Told from the perspective of one of the young revolutionaries, the film creates a tense atmosphere as it depicts the four days the ambassador was in captivity, and in the process revisits Brazil’s all-too-recent political past. Internationally, the film was nominated for many awards, including Best Foreign Language Film by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. (Rated R, 107 min. 1997. In Portuguese with English subtitles)
