Landfill Harmonic (2015) follows the lives of a garbage picker, a music teacher, and a group of children from a slum built alongside one of South America’s largest landfills. Together, they form the Recycled Orchestra of Cateura, a Paraguayan music group that uses instruments made from garbage. This award-winning film is a testimonial to the transformative power of music and highlights two vital issues of our time: poverty and waste pollution. It is screened in conjunction with the conference “Paraguay at the Crossroads.” Running time: 1 hr. 24 min. Rated PG.
