Event Description
Dr. Christine Guth, a leading scholar on the history of collecting, transnational cultural exchange, and material culture—particularly in relation to Japan—discusses a lacquer teabowl by the artist Ogawa Haritsu (1663-1747). Her presentation will address what the unusual use of materials tells us about the Japanese tea ceremony in the 1700s.
