Buglak: "I chose this haiku because of the mental image that I got when I read it. We made our quilt with waves and contrasting shapes to add movement and dimension to the quilt. This project required focus, determination, and responsibility."
DeFazio: I chose this haiku because when I read it my mind went in all directions. I knew I could be creative with this haiku and I think I put all of my creativity into my quilt."
Richard Wright haiku that inspired the quilt:
My cigarette glows
Without my lips touching it, --
A steady spring breeze.
