"Climate Change at the Poles," Jan-2009, Kate Meyer, Jennifer Talbott, and Angela Watts
During the Terra Nova Expedition, British explorer Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912) led a party of five men on a journey to reach the South Pole. As they neared their destination, expedition artist and physician Edward Wilson sketched the drawing reproduced here depicting the discovery of Roald Amundsen’s tent. Amundsen (1872-circa 1928) was a Norwegian explorer who beat Scott to the Pole by 35 days. All members of Scott’s party died attempting their return journey.
