The Arts Research Collaboration initiative (ARC) at the Spencer Museum of Art continues its investigation of collaborative research bridging the arts and sciences with a colloquium follow-up to the Museum’s recent international conference. The colloquium begins at 2:30 pm with a talk by Shepherd Steiner, assistant professor of contemporary art history and theory in the School of Art, University of Manitoba, Canada, which examines the notion of scientific objectivity in the work of German photographers Bernd and Hilla Becher. At 4:00 pm the program continues with a roundtable on hybrid research practices moderated by Steiner, KU Professor of Art History David Cateforis, and ARC Researcher Steven Duval. The Hybrid Practices project is supported by the Terra Foundation for American Art and the KU Research Investment Council. The colloquium is free and open to the public, and will be livestreamed at http://www.spencerart.ku.edu/hybrid-practices/. This is a Spencer Museum At Large program.
