Event Description
The documentary "Desert of Forbidden Art" tells the story of a treasure trove of banned Soviet art worth millions of dollars stashed in a far-off desert of Uzbekistan. The plot thickens as the film develops into a larger exploration of how art survives periods of oppression. This is a fascinating documentary about a group of visionary artists and the man who risked his life to ensure the preservation of their work. A discussion with director Tchavdar Georgiev follows the screening (the film was co-directed by Amanda Pope). Running time: 80 minutes.
